Le Grand Cul Sac Marin: buffer zone between land and sea, borded by the coral barrier reef (25kms). This particular biological environment is the home of a very specific fauna and flora. Its mangrove shelters numerous birds species but has also always been a place of refuge for boats during storms and for runaways slaves (as dogs could not find them there).
